Chauffeur Protocol

What to look for in your chauffeur.

Prepare car before VIP arrives:

  1. Warm car interior and engine
  2. Program the principals favorite radio channels
  3. Provide bottled water
  4. Provide preferred newspaper
  5. Load luggage 1st
  6. Keep blankets & pillows in car
  7. Don’t speak unless spoken to
  8. Be smart
  9. Pick up or set down walk round back of car
  10. Look at using rear view driving to talk
  11. If female try not to use rear view mirror
  12. Eye contact only as long as necessary
  13. Client confidentiality
  14. Do not slam door or boot, push firmly from short distance
  15. Offer client seatbelt
  16. Hold wheel both hands top half of wheel, don’t rest elbows on door
  17. Enough fuel for journey – keep topped up
  18. Keep fuel receipts
  19. Don’t leave valuables in view, mobile & parked
  20. Encourage client to take valuables with them
  21. Upon debus, ensure client leaves nothing behind
  22. Arrive early
  23. Don’t lean on or slouch against car
  24. Have keys in hand on approach
  25. Don’t eat food in clients cars
  26. Contact list for restaurants, theatres etc.
  27. Route card & maps to hand
  28. ½ hr early for airport pickups
  29. Pre-arranged pick up point
  30. Photo of client if possible for ID
  31. Stay inside traffic laws
  32. Car cleaning kit in car kit bag
  33. In adverse weather/road conditions keep a minimum of the glass and sills and kick plate clean
  34. In tall vehicles lower suspension before debus
  35. Pull in close to kerb to make shallow step
  36. In low vehicles leave a couple of feet between car and kerb
  37. After rain avoid puddles to step into
